Murlidhar Joshi(1912-2001) was born in Sinnar, Maharashtra. He graduated from the J J School of Art in 1936. Trained in the academic style of painting, he mastered the watercolor medium and mostly remained committed to it throughout his career. He became renowned for his landscapes and gradually developed his own unique identifiable style of rendering, characterised by expressionistic elements.
