Raghuvir P. Joshi was born 12th March 1911 at Alewadi-Dict.Thane. He completed his school and higher art education in Vasai and Mumbai. He stood first and second respectively in exams such as Drawing Master (DM) and Art Master (AM) from Sir J.J.School of Art (appearing privately ). In 1939 he joined artists such as S. K. Thosar and M.S.Joshi to form the Model Art Institute, Dadar, Mumbai, and served as faculty and Hon. Secretary till 1960. In 1949 was appointed as a lecturer in textile design and colour in the famous VJTI, Mumbai and retired after 25 years services. He was a visiting lecturer for the subject textile design and colour in institutes such as UDCT of Bombay University, SASMIRA of Textile Industry and Nirrnala Niketan for women education. He was known as an expert in child art education on which he wrote several articles in vernacular Marathi language. He wrote a special introductory article to introduce 1955 UNESCO's report on art education."Colour in costumes of India co-authored with Dr. Ms. S. Patwardhan. His artwork  was selected as Poster Presentation from India in international colour conference —Monte Carlo-France in 1985. He was the vice president Art Society of India and joint Secretary Bombay Art Society. He died on 19th May 1987.
